Second Graders Meet International Friends from the USA.
During the week of May 24, our 2nd graders had the wonderful opportunity to talk to native English speakers during their English class with Miss Carolina Salinas. The International Friends Project, consisted in a video chat with two native speakers from Portland, Oregon: Claire and Grace. Our students asked our guests questions about personal information and the place where they lived. Second Graders learnt from other cultures as well as made new friends and practiced their English in this fully immersive experience. We had a really great time together! (Miss Carolina Salinas, teacher).
As an expectator, I could observe the quality and variety of the questions our second graders could make. They were very fluent and creative, because they asked many different questions such as: What’s your favourite pet? (And one of our guests showed her chicken on the screen called Princess Leia). Another student asked what’s the place where you live like? And our guest answered it was closed to the mountains, just like Santiago. What do you like about your country? Are you married or single? What do you like reading?, are some of the many questions our students asked . They even taught Claire and Grace some words in Spanish. All in all, it was an awesome experience for our students which proved they are learning English in spite of special learning conditions.
